This year, I’m glad to say that I have been spending more time traveling the Philippines. I haven’t had the chance to do this before because my son was so much younger and I was building a career for myself as an online freelance writer. Now that I have both out of the way, meaning my son’s more grown up and I have now established myself online, I have been traveling here and there, bringing with me the most comfortable footwear for traveling I own.
Skechers Go Walk 3 Review: Best Footwear For Travelling?
On the photo above is my Skechers Go Walk 3, and this is my only go-to shoe when I travel. Most of the time, I get invited to travel to other places in my country to attend events or feature tourist spots on one of my blogs. When I know that there’s going to be a good amount of walking involved, I bring these babies. So what makes Skechers Go Walk 3 my favorite footwear for traveling? Let’s break down the parts of the shoe so I can tell you why, exactly.
Upper
The upper is easy to identify because, on the shoe, it is the entire portion of the navy blue color. The upper covers the dorsal part of the foot and, in the case of running shoes, usually holds the laces.
The upper of the Skechers Go Walk 3 is made up of structured mesh called the Skechers Performance FitKnit. This type of material is very breathable because it was designed to have small perforations. These tiny holes allow the heat to escape from the inside and let the air from the outside enter the shoe.
In short, it keeps the foot cool at all times. And, believe me when I say that you need your foot well-ventilated when you are traveling throughout the Philippines or other countries of the world that have more of a tropical climate.
The same material also has adaptive characteristics. When I put the shoe on for the first time, it felt too tight but as time went, the upper material softened and made way for my natural foot shape. FYI, I am more on the wide side.
Midsole
The midsole of the shoe is the part that’s colored white. It’s found just underneath the upper (the navy blue part). It holds most of the cushioning of the shoe.
Another reason why I take this particular pair on my trips is that the shoe allows me to do any kind of activity, whether it is hiking, walking, or running, without feeling pain on my foot. I think the midsole’s flexibility and cushioning are mostly responsible for this. The midsole responds whenever I put pressure on the shoe, giving me a decent amount of energy return. I also like that the midsole is not too tough, but not too soft at the same time.
Outsole
When you turn the shoe over, you will see the outsole. This part of the shoe comes in direct contact with the ground.
The outsole of the Skechers Go Walk 3 is composed of tiny circular structures that vary in height. These structures help with balancing and evening out the force on the foot as a person walks. I am a bit on the heavier side (chubby girl here), so I am glad that these small circular structures that look like pillars, even out the force that my foot is putting down.
In addition, I have had my pair for more than a year. The outsole does have signs of wear, but the amount of deterioration is still acceptable. What I’m saying is that I think I can still walk in the shoes for another year.
Inside Of The Shoe
Based on the Skechers website, the inside of the shoe is lined with their patented GOga Mat technology. Not much was mentioned about the tech on the site but I do assume that the GOga Mat enhances the comfort your foot feels, absorbs all the sweat, and gives you a little bit more cushioning. Whatever its function is, it’s working so well for me because my underfoot feels supported and grounded.
Final Thoughts On This Footwear For Travelling
I am very happy with my Skechers Go Walk 3. I did notice that the mouth of the shoe has already loosed up significantly but the rest of the shoe is still in tip-top shape, especially the fit. It still hugs my foot comfortably.
As you saw in the picture above, the midsole and outsole do show signs of usage but I have exposed these shoes in some tough conditions. To be honest, they are holding up nicely. I imagine that they can be used for other purposes like shoes for work or shoes for every day walking.
I will continue to use my pair until they are no more. Although, I might purchase the latest GOWalk when I retire this pair of footwear for traveling, but it’s going to be a long time from now. Thanks for reading my review! I’m planning to buy a new pair of running shoes so I might be able to do more reviews like this in the near future.

These shoes look really comfortable. I am trying to find something that’s waterproof that’s not too pricey.
I own one of these shoes too and I can swear by its comfort when walking with it…. makes its expensive price well worth it
This is a really good review write up! Agree the designs could be better but it’s usage is really vast and not for specific situations like sports etc. Makes me feel like it’s a great shoe for parents too… So they can run after their kids
I love their shoes. Really comfy
My mom’s go-to shoes as well! She wears this almost all the time even with her maxi dresses. That makes her look fashionble, too. She has not less than 3 pairs of this.
